Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) delivers up to 1,201 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz — a significant throughput increase over Wi-Fi 5 at equivalent distances. More importantly, Wi-Fi 6 is designed for dense device environments: OFDMA subdivides each Wi-Fi channel into smaller resource units, allowing the router to address multiple devices in a single transmission rather than queuing them sequentially. MU-MIMO extends this to spatial streams — the Deco X10 can communicate with multiple devices simultaneously across different spatial directions, eliminating the bottleneck that occurs when many devices compete for airtime on older routers.

Each Deco unit communicates with the others to form a single network with one SSID and one password. As you move through your home, your devices automatically roam to the nearest Deco unit without dropping the connection or requiring manual network switching — the handoff is invisible. Ethernet backhaul is supported as an option: connecting Deco units via a wired Ethernet cable between units eliminates wireless inter-unit overhead and maximises the throughput available to client devices. Wireless backhaul works well in most homes without the need for in-wall cabling.

Each Deco X10 unit has two Gigabit Ethernet ports that auto-sense their role — either WAN (internet input) or LAN (wired device output). The primary unit connects to your modem or ISP router via one port; the second port can connect a wired device such as a desktop, smart TV, or NAS. Satellite units use their ports for Ethernet backhaul or additional wired device connections. Gigabit rated at 1,000 Mbps, these ports do not bottleneck internet connections under 1 Gbps, which covers virtually all residential broadband services currently available in Bangladesh.

The Deco app's parental controls operate at the device level through custom family profiles. Each profile can have its own content filter category (blocking adult content, social media, gaming sites, or custom categories), bedtime schedules that cut off internet access at set times, time limits per day, and pause-the-internet functionality accessible with a single tap. Weekly and monthly usage reports show which sites were visited and how long each profile was online. Controls are managed remotely from the Deco app — adjustments take effect immediately without needing to be on the home network.

WPA3-Personal is the current Wi-Fi security standard, replacing WPA2 with stronger encryption and protection against brute-force password attacks through Simultaneous Authentication of Equals (SAE). The Deco X10 supports WPA3, WPA2, and WPA for backward compatibility with older devices. Separate guest networks on both 5 GHz and 2.4 GHz provide internet access to visitors without granting them access to devices on the primary network — isolating smart home devices, NAS drives, and networked printers from guest traffic.
